There is nothing like lying down in green pastures safe in the knowledge that your most loving shepherd will protect you. And when you have had your lovely nap, he will make sure you have enough food and drink and then gently guide you back to the pen. Uhhh, it is nice to be a sheep hanging with the shepherd.
However, we are not only sheep, but also lions, we have the nature of the Lion of Judah in us. We are not prey; we are predators. We not only sleep and eat; we hunt and rule!
Before King David was king, he was a shepherd boy taking care of his father’s flocks. However, when wild animals threatened them, he became a warrior and killed the lion and bear. From his life (and many others) we can see that there is a time for peace and a time for fighting. Thankfully, very few of us will ever have to fight actual lions and bears, but we do have spiritual bears and lions that need taking down.LSatan is described in Scripture to be as a lion. Note, he isn’t a lion, but he pretends to be a lion. He goes around shouting and screaming (roaring) with his toothless jaw, trying to frighten everyone who has ears to hear. A sheep cannot take on a lion – even a pretentious lion. Only a real lion can take on another lion – real or pretentious.

Yes, we should always remain sheep under our loving Shepherd, but if we want to establish our Shepherd’s dominion, we are going to have to revive the lion in us. The Spirit of the Lion of Judah lives inside you and me and His authority walks with us so that we can influence the spheres where we walk. Where we are, we establish His rule. Remember this, we are conquerors taking territory, not warriors fighting for victory. We establish His dominion on this earth, we are not fighting for it, because He already won.
I come from South Africa where I have seen real lions eat. It is one of the most intimidating experiences ever. The way their powerful jaws crush bones and their teeth tear flesh makes it very clear they are NOT to be messed with. Now, imagine what it would be like if a mother lion has to defend her cubs. Have you ever seen that live or on TV? Do yourself a favour and watch such an occurrence, it is ferocious! That lioness will take on multiple males in order to save her cubs and she will not back down even if it costs her her life.
It cost Jesus His life, that is how much He loves us!
That same love Jesus has for you and me, He has for every person. Nothing has changed in that regard, EXCEPT that now it is OUR mandate to love humanity and to contend for their lives. All His authority has been given to us to use within our spheres of influence. By applying this authority with wisdom, we can rise up from our ‘spiritual nap’ and not only stand, but hunt.
Thankfully, as the Victor, The Lord’s roar through us will call those that have ears to hear from every corner of the world (Hosea 11:10). The Lord’s armies surround us and with that roar they deploy. All we have to do is open our mouths in faith, love and guidance from His Spirit.
There will be a time when the lion and the lamb are at peace with one another, but it is not now. Now, oh called one, we are to be a pride of lions displaying His glory to the world. Now, oh righteous ones, we are called to be lions!
JESUS WILL BE RETURNING NOT AS A LAMB, BUT AS A LION JOINING HIS PRIDE!
Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
Proverbs 30:30 a lion, mighty among beasts, who never backs down from anything;
Hebrews 11:33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,
